City Council Meeting Notes 03/06/24
This meeting was so short that all I have to write is a TLDR. Seriously, Look at this empty agenda.
TLDR:
The first phase of the Transportation Utility Fee will come to Council for adoption on March 20th. In response to feedback, the City will look into alternative ways to pay for transportation maintenance, like putting a gas tax on the ballot before phase two or three.
Morgan Schmidt, the Executive Director of the Central Oregon Red Cross, accepted the Red Cross Month Proclamation, and every time I get to see her speak in public is a special treat.
Are you a family struggling to afford childcare? Reach out to Bend Preschool! They have a program through Grow Central Oregon Kids that could help cover your childcare costs, and the income requirements are more flexible than other programs. Check it out!
The City signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs to strengthen their government-to-government relationship, agreeing to holding at least one joint meeting each year. Here’s a Thread from Mayor Kebler talking about it.
Joanne Mina was removed from the Human Rights and Equity Commission by unanimous Council vote after she was asked to resign and refused. She was removed because of communication and behavior that “hindered the group’s work and ability to function safely as a group together, including comments toward and about other HREC members”.
That’s all folks! Tune in next meeting for coverage that will probably be super long and filled with all the shit that was supposed to be covered last night!
